It's also worth noting that the best friend character from the first page of the book is supposed to be gay yet by the end he's a ladykiller with a goth girlfriend. The main characters' middle names change twice during the novel. We're told in the blurb and several times in the book that Loren's car is broken down and needs repairs, but the novel seems to forget this and Loren frequently travels by taxi or rental car, even after she gets her hands on the inheritance and could potentially repair said car.

This is a sweet romcom where two women who have been best friends since childhood get married in order for one of them to get her inheritance which they can split. I loved how Lo and Cara started out from different places: Lo is already out as queer, and Cara still believes herself to be straight at the beginning of the story.
I also liked that going to a therapist to work through your feelings even if you don't have a specific mental illness was normalised and treated as a positive thing.

I don't remember either of them self-describing as a lesbian at any point, hence why I'm not calling them that either. However, I'm not the first and probably not the last person to say that this book could have used more editing. Others pointed out several inconsistencies, but the one that really bothered me was that the transgender male side character is described as gay in the first chapter, but later he dates girls, and even Lo talks about him finding "the right girl".
Also, this is my pet peeve, but the formatting made it difficult to tell who was speaking sometimes. In everything I read, if you have a line of dialogue from character A then an action by character B, then you write them in different lines, but that wasn't what happened here.

At first I wasn't sure if my brain adapted or if the book got better, but the very deep annoyance that that last 0.
I loooved the premise of the book. After the wedding I started to relax. After that, all the nonsense that threatened to make me throw my cell phone to the wall disappeared and finally I could relax and I started to enjoy reading it. If you are a relaxed person, with a lot of tolerance to stress, this book should be easy for you.

All in all, this story was fluffy and cute, with a focus not only on romance but also a beauty of female friendship. Definitely going to check out other stories by this author! It sounded like it was being read by a high schooler reading a script for a school play. The youth in the narration made it almost impossible to listen to the sex scenes, especially.
I realize narrators take time to get used to but this is the first one ever I never was able to grow fond of or at least adjust to. Sounds like it was read by one of my friends, and not in the good way. Also the reckless pre-rich money spending gave me anxiety. I recommend sampling before purchasing. A perfect Happily ever after best friend fake marriage story that will make you smile and heart a flutter. I've enjoyed the majority of the author's books I've listened to so I'll give CMC the benefit of the doubt, though it's possible the reason that this reader was chosen was to hide the juvenile, simplistic text.
Out of loyalty to Style, Chord, and the Violet Hill collection this one got 2 stars from me instead of one. All in all a disappointing effort from a writer who can and has done much better. The narrator is awful and the writting is childish in nature. This book requires such a suspension of belief it might as well be labeled fantasy! This story is about two best friends getting married as they both need money, and Lauren can only get the inheritance money once she is married, but while they are playing the part they start to fall for each other.
