Foster And Lloyd Version Of The Truth blog download

They painted it red, white, and blue and called it Americanism. The campaign was a tapestry of hates. Each of the groups was simply to be used until its usefulness was exhausted. His paid saboteurs were waiting for his cue to begin the plan of taking over the government. His chief lackey and henchman is his oily and conniving secretary, played by Richard Whorf, who is terrific in the role. She tried to keep his murder secret not to protect herself, but to protect the country from tumbling off into the ravine, too, in its blind devotion to a con artist.

They want the truth, and they can take it. It is a speech for the ages, and the hope on which I pin the outcome of the coming presidential election and the millions of Trump supporters who are apparently blind to his lack of integrity, his lack of intelligence, and the evil of the man.

Are they, too, lacking in integrity and intelligence? Are they, too, evil? Like Hepburn, I, too, am horrified at the danger my country is in. But like Tracy, I have hope in the basic decency of the American people, and I feel that courage is needed now more than ever to face the crisis. Hollywood faced this issue unblinkingly with a fictional character. Movies today ignore the elephant in the room. The evil henchmen step in to salvage the planned takeover of the government, and Tracy and Hepburn are trapped by fire, shot at, and one is them is murdered.

The ending gives us a comforting bit of flag-waving as the bad guys are exposed and the country is safe now that it knows the truth. But our country knows the truth, and yet it is not safe. There are too many who do not care about the truth. The soft acoustic arrangement, complete with guitars and a gentle drum beat, nicely frame the story of a man letting his woman know the kind of person she helped him become:.

Foster and Lloyd have written a very thought provoking and interesting lyric here that I quite enjoy a lot. The barely there production suits the song well and I loved how it opens A Capella. It rocks a little harder than I expected, but it proves they still make great music together after all these years. Occasional Hope. Paul W. Though they were never top record sellers, they were staples at country radio in the late 80s.

Their first two albums for Columbia racked up a number of radio hits, but after that the hits began to taper off. After two more albums failed to generate any more hits, Columbia dropped the Sweethearts from its roster in They re-emerged the following year on Sugar Hill Records, for whom they recorded two critically acclaimed albums in and The two met while working as songwriters for the same publishing company. They disbanded in and resumed their solo careers. Brooklyn-born Kane eventually went on to become one of the founders the independent Dead Reckoning Records.

Country rockers Radney Foster and Bill Lloyd recorded three albums together for RCA between and , and in the process scored nine charting singles, four of which reached the Top Perhaps a bit too offbeat for conservative country radio in the late 80s, they were more of a critical, rather than commercial, success and disbanded in Lead vocalist Radney Foster subsequently signed with Arista Records and enjoyed a moderately successful solo career, while Bill Lloyd went back to earning a living as a session musician.

As always, we hope that this spotlight will provide our readers with a pleasant trip down memory lane, or perhaps inspire them to explore music that they may have overlooked or are too young to remember. More notable this time is the solid and often inventive contemporary country production helmed by Frank Rogers, who is rapidly becoming one of my favorite mainstream producers, with an excellent ear for the right instrumentation for any given song, and balancing commercial considerations with artistic merit.

Rogers also currently produces Josh Turner whose latest, Haywire, sounds gorgeous despite some lacklustre material and Brad Paisley, who makes a guest appearance here. Where it falls down a little is with the lack of ambition and limited emotional palette, and it is interesting that all of these artists each of them lucky enough to be happily married in real life seem to have a reluctance to tackle much heartbreak or darkness in their music.

Darius co-wrote every song, most frequently collaborating with Rogers, and although the material is pretty good, and more consistent than that on Learn To Live , there are no modern classics here. Possibly a few outside songs would have raised the bar. And he does succeed in that rather better than many of his contemporaries. Written with Rogers and pop writer and outgoing American idol judge Kara DioGuardi, it is a perfectly competent and aurally pleasing but perhaps rather unambitious number which really epitomises this album.

This has a warmth and genuineness which is rather appealing. Both songs should find a ready home on country radio. The mortified protagonist, stuck in a hotel room, regrets past choices to do the kind of the things he would never have thought himself capable of:. This is very effectively and subtly done, and my favorite track.

This is in many ways a safe record. It is her most recent studio effort and contains four Top 40 singles, including her last Top Ten hit to date. It was released right around the same time as the Sago coal mine disaster in West Virginia. I was listening to a lot of Willie Nelson last summer - in particular, discovering his more obscure 70s stuff. Additionally, I've been digging, with Phosphorescent's dandy Willie tribute album To Willie for several years now.

Hence, a collection of Willie Nelson covers seemed apropos. Still, it's such a "Willie song" and the guy did write a ton of other great ones , I had to include Elliott Smith's version stay in the mix. Revoke my purist card, if you must especially since Elliott screws up a verse in his live version , but it really fit nicely.

See below for track listing. I quite liked Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music back in the s, but I went through a fairly long stretch where I didn't listen to him at all. In about , several years after it was released, I got As Time Goes By , an album of all 30s and 40s covers. Maybe it was listening to the album shortly after seeing the movie In the Mood for Love, which features Ferry's version of the title song, but damn, I loved that album.

Kim McLean is one of those Nashville behind-the-scenes icons that you may not have heard of, but you have definitely heard. The photo of her is so very representative of her career- she has let the music be at the forefront. She's a North Carolina Irish-Cherokee chick who currently lives outside Nashville and tours extensively.

KM- Songwriting. I moved here with my husband and two little girls, our collie, and a hundred original songs. I loved Country music for its honesty and story-telling. I could be real when I wrote Country songs, could tell the whole truth, and write about all of life. Not that I don't love a good love song; but in Country music you can talk about everything.
